Marcy Farrey is a Jane-of-all-trades when it comes to her passion: storytelling. She is a videographer, writer, editor, content manager, and has even been known to work as on-camera talent. Working to defy the myth of “Jack of all trades, master of none,” Marcy plays these roles at her corporate day job and with her many side projects/hobbies.
Marcy has a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and a Master of Arts in Writing and Publishing from DePaul University. She currently works in the corporate world in internal communications. She is also co-founder of LitCity312, a website devoted to documenting the development of Chicagoland indie literary culture. Previously, she worked in television news as a reporter and a producer. With a wide range of freelance and internship experience, Marcy has worked with everyone from the big guy in the corporate office to the self-employed creative.
Outside of her job(s) she is a member of the Associate Board of the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago.
Want to know a little more about Marcy?
Marcy is a single suburbanite who is often traveling to the city whenever she can via the Metra (she hates driving, though she still has a car). She is a bit of a coffee addict, enjoys watching Netflix and Hulu, and goes to the gym to release her stress. On weekends she is often seen with friends at bookstores, coffee shops, Cooper’s Hawk Winery, the occasional brewery, or at home with a good book.
What’s with the blog?
You might notice Marcy’s blog is not exactly on a regular schedule, nor does it really focus on one particular topic. This is because she only writes a blog post when she feels inspired. Like in high school English class, she only participates in the discussion when she really feels she has something to contribute to the conversation.
